Went to feed the beasties this morning, and we're short one of the younger goslings. I watched them yesterday, only one was having a go at the grain, the other was out on the back lawn, eating grass and weeds, all by itself. Probably that one that's gone now. So we only have one possibility of another female White Chinese goose. The 2 older ones are probably a Toulouse mix, haven't seen the Chinese bump on either of them.
Herbie slept most of yesterday, and all of last night. Although still grizzly, he's looking much happier.
Was chilly here last night after raining most of the day, was down to 59 the last time I looked. Still coolish this morning.
Opened the triangular pasture yesterday, and although Boytjie pawed the ground and growled at me, he kept his distance. Discovered that the one gate was down, wasn't snapping at all, so no power in the fence. Was very surprised that they all stayed inside as the grass and alfalfa outside is tall and lush. After milking Dolly, who gave about 3 gallons, I took the buggy and went a-fence-fixing in the rain. Was completely down in 3 places, covered in wet weeds in numerous others, and was twisted up with the barbed wire in 4 places. Had to replace both handles on the gate, and then had great "snap" on the fence, with all the green lights working. But Anni and I were soaked to the bone. I lobbed my wet clothes down in the laundry and hopped into a wonderful hot shower.
Had to shoo Dolly out of the lower barn after I fixed the fence, she was lying down, completely happy chewing the cud.
Just waiting a little longer for the 2nd rise of my next loaf of bread. Put a little less water in it this time, and substituted a cup of whole wheat pastry flour for one of the all purpose, still with a cup of spelt. Was like a live creature on the cookie pan, could see it rising.
