Lisa has figured out how to climb out the baby pool, I've returned her 4 times already, and think it was Winchester, one of the boys, joined her twice. Trying to remember how I contained the puppies last time when they were too big for the pool. So far, 3 puppies sold, so only a boy a girl to find new homes for. Deb and Roger decided on two boys yesterday, naming them Remington (their dad is also Remington) and Winchester, and Burt is taking the first little growler girl.
Having a cup of tea (and a slice of cake), then need to go move cattle. Today is November 1, so Dolly needs to go in with Parrot for breeding. Can't put her and Doofus in with the horses as Missy will chase him. So decided to move the Scottish Highlands back in with the horses as Gabriel stands up to them, will have to see how Seasaidh does, then move Dolly and Doofus into the main pasture with Parrot and Daisy May. That leaves the 2 heifers, Immanuelle and Eleanor in the middle pasture by themselves. Need to check how old Seasaidh is, because she may have to go in with the heifers.
Rained for the past 2 days, but sunny, albeit very windy, today. Ponds all over the yard and pastures.
Cooked the first steaks yesterday, and totally hashed it. Decided on roasted veggies, potatoes, lots of carrots, Herbies favourite, onions and garlic. Popped a whole buttercup squash into the oven too, and for the green, peas. Went and milked, and overcooked the roasted stuff, mainly ruined the carrots. Texted Herbie to find out if he was on his way home yet, as I like eating with him, and he was still nearly an hour away ! Decided to sear the steak and then pop it in the oven. But he was late, and Deb and Roger came over to choose a puppy, and the steaks were overdone as well. They were dreadful. Didn't help that they weren't cut in the 2 inch thicknesses I'd ordered, but Jones seemed to hash the whole order this time. Michelle didn't get the cuts she ordered, and when she called them they said sorry, they'd cut it all to my specifications. But they didn't, as I had some round steak and a roast, neither of which I'd ordered. Thought they'd mixed mine and Michelles, but is seems a bigger hash-up than that. Fun. I paid $261 for butchering and didn't get what I wanted. Bad on you, Jones ! This is the first time we've had a mis-order like this, but then it's also the first time that I've sold 1/2 that was picked up by someone else so I have no idea what Michelle received. Think I'll go talk to them this week.
