After the chores this morning, Herbie, me, Anni, Rosco and the twin bummer lambs went to check the growth of the pastures, and then tried to find some morel mushrooms. Neither of us have ever seen them growing, so were sort of just stumbling around in the woods, trying to find some, while avoiding the raspberry thorns. We have some dead elms and apple trees, those June umbrella like plants are just starting to come up, morel-friendly stuff, plus there were morels here years ago. Not sure how many years ago, I've been out looking for them every year and have never found any, and this is the 5th Spring we've lived here.
Named the lambs. Niece and Hugh. Reasoning is that the little girl has brown knees, and Hugh is short for Nephew :), although they only answer to "Babies". He seems to be keeping his black colouring, rather than turning brown like the other boy. They are also growing well, just picked them up and they're starting to be heavy. I put them in with the others at hay feeding time, but they climb through the fence and come looking for me. I keep a close watch on them as previous lambs have killed roses (Wanda) and eaten the Japanese maple (Izzy) and I don't want these two getting into my plants.
The daffodils are opening. Just 1 yesterday, and a whole lot today, but haven't seen any signs of the tulips :(
