Did all the chores this morning, and now it snowing. Last nights' cold was 11 degrees, now it's 20 degrees. Didn't know it could snow when it was this cold.
DH has just called. His dispatcher has just sent him on a 15 hour trip, 1 1/2 hours into his shift. He wanted me not to worry as he only expected to get home around 6am tomorrow morning. He is ao angry he can't speak to the dispatcher. Sending him up to Traverse City in this snow, after sending him to Lansing, then Grand Rapids, Muskegon up to TC. He has to wear fire retardent clothing, but they don't supply thermal pants or tops, so he freezes. Puts on double layers of thermal underwear underneath his clothes and he still gets cold.
Bambis' udder is much better and her back teats are softening and healing. Worsie has been moo-ing and moo-ing, looking for Pearl. Poor girl, 8 months old and just lost her 2nd mum. But ahe doesn't need the milk anymore, and Pearl needed to save her calcium for the calf and herself.
Small flakes coming down, the ground is nearly covered. Bed weather. Anni is lying on the floor here with me, I have the heater on, thinking about baking something. That will warm everything up.
The cows have snow on their backs, the chickens are all fluffed out, the ducks and geese seem to be happy in the snow. I put the protector over the tap after the watering this morning, as I had to pour boiling water over it this morning as it froze over night.
Later : sort of really weird. Sitting here eating a pomegranite, and it's snowing outside and 19 degrees, with about an inch on the ground.
Put the poultry the bed. Gave the dogs their treats (and 3 of the cats, Mischka is MIA), all is quiet outside.
