Anni is on heat, was attached with Rosco yesterday morning. Silly dogs, Rosco is fixed ! I'm keeping her with me so that we don't end up with little bastards ! Will breed her again in December so that she has another litter Spring 2014. Amy, I'll reserve one for you if you'd like :)
Made lemonade yesterday. It is tart and yummy. Fizz it up with my bubble machine. Love bubbles.
Well, back outside to be constructive and to do something - my list is a mile long.
3 things crossed off my list today. At last, I built the compost enclosure from old pallets. The chickens will still be able to get in to eat whatever they want, but the things they don't eat should be contained in the same place and not scattered around the yard.
Vicki came to pick up her milk, had a nice visit and chat. She paid me a wonderful compliment, saying how good my skin looked. Thank you Vicki, much appreciated. Will see if I can mix her an oil to help with her rashes.
Planted the Sedum that Teri brought for the rock garden in remembrance of Fish. Thank you Teri. Saw the chickens had scratched one of the new ground cover plants out of the rock garden. Found it a little dehydrated and replanted it, maybe it'll survive. Damn chickens. Found a new place where the chickens are laying their eggs, outside the diningroom window in the varigated dogwood bushes. Now if I can just find where else they are all laying, should get my egg collection back up.
After my treat of high fructose corn syrup poured on high fructose corn syrup, I think I will hunt down a real chocolate sauce recipe. Already know how to make real ice-cream, just don't have enough cream for it.
Played frizzbee with Anni a few times today. She really loves running and fetching. Better than the large stick she walluped me with earlier today after taking Dolly back after milking. Took the buggy out to the back field where I dug up thistles from the back pasture. Heard yelping from the woods, but Anni didn't come when I called. When I arrived back at the house, there she was waiting for me on the back patio. Don't know what happened, she looks fine. Sargeant is perky and very, very well again. Jumping up and down, running around, back to his normal self. Going to have to shear Rosco. He has dread-locks ! Don't have any idea how I'm going to accomplish that ! He won't stand still when I have scissors to cut out a burr, he hates being bathed and I don't think he's ever been brushed. Taking him to the dog groomer is not an option, they quoted $100 !
The sheep have done a wonderful job in cutting down the vegetation in the lower barn enclosure. Think I'll move them to the chicken yard tomorrow. Need to remove the hill they've built around their food in their usual enclosure. Maybe there is still grass underneath that can grow. Have someone interested in Muffin and BaaBaa and they may come on the week-end. Have offered to barter them for hay. Hope so, still need to sell the 5 lambs we still have, and maybe some more sheep. We have way too many.
