Herdshare owners will get milk milk from September 1st, the vacuum pump is working well after being dismantled and cleaned yesterday. That's always a job and a half, Herbie and I working together. Now if Daisy May would just stop peeing and pooping in her stall, I'd be much happier and cleanup after milking would be much quicker. But suppose keeping her there a little longer while working on Augustus to teach him to nurse, is the main reason.
Made roast leg of lamb, with garlic slivers and fresh rosemary twigs pushed into slits, baked potatoes, sweet and Yukon, baked acorn squash and green peas. Prepared all but the peas on Friday night, and set the oven to start at 11:30am on Saturday. There isn't a 24 hour clock on the stove, so it switched on at 11:30pm. I smelt the heat upstairs, I was in bed already, went down, cancelled it and reset if for the morning. Herbie told me that the stove was beeping when he left around 3am, so he pushed buttons until it stopped. But, it came on at 11:30am so not sure why it was beeping earlier, or what he did. Yesterday I made tzatziki sauce to go with the cold lamb gyros we had. Had to buy yoghurt, as I haven't had milk to start a batch yet. I was making "lunch" at 5ish when SallyJo arrived to see how long it'd take her to get to the farm without the roadworks, 45 minutes, so Herbie helped himself while I was outside with her.
Noddy has a new battery, I have use of my little car again. But it would be the expensive, specialty battery ! Put air in all his tyres, and we're good to go again. I really enjoy that little car. Makes me smile each time I see, or drive it.
Have some laundry to fold, then think I'll bake something after milking. Cauliflower and white sauce for lunch ? Sounds like a plan. Or maybe fish and chips. Also need to clean out the fridge in the garage. And spin the honey. Oy, there's always so much to do.
