Gary Phillips called this morning from an estate sale around the corner from me, saying they had a loom with all the related bits and pieces and books for sale. Hopped into the truck and went and put a bid in on it. If it doesn't sell today, it goes for half price tomorrow, so placed a bid for a little over 1/2. They will phone me tonight if it's mine ! Rather excited as I've thought about making my own rugs and cloth. Did buy a quilting frame for $25 from there which I have no idea how to put together or use.
Then I picked up a free TV entertainment unit on the curb down the way from here. It's for the basement where I'm planning out the different areas, one for brewing, one for soap making, another for canning etc etc. Also keep all my aromatherapy oils, seeds and Winter vegetables down there.
The sheep are looking way better. Ruth has no lump under her chin at all anymore, although the sick little boy still has weepy eyes. Grabbed him and gave him additional de-worming meds today, a different kind, but he is eating again so think he's on the mend.
Posted a whole whack of new photos on the farm website today, look under photos and enjoy.
I dread Autumn, but it is so beautiful. Our soil has warmed 8 degrees so it's not all cold and doom here, yet. The sun is shining, and I need to get out there and do something, like unpack the truck. How the blazes am I going to get the entertainment unit off the truck ? I slid it from their truck to mine, so it wasn't so hard, but getting it off is going to take some doing, especially as it has glass doors ! And then up a step through a doorway, down 2 flights of stairs around 2 corners, through another much smaller door. Oy vey. Think about taking it through the lower barn like we did the furnace. Truck won't fit through the lower barn door, so will have to take it off, then get it up the step into the milking parlour, through 2 doors, down the tunnel, up 1 1/2 steps and through another 2 doors. Which will be easier ? Wait for DH, I think that'll be easier, at least for me, but will have to listen to his exasperation at my latest find. I'm probably more management than worker, have grandiose ideas, but don't seem great on the follow-through.
