Need to feed all the beasties, and then milk Dolly before we can leave. Betsi needs her milk. Taking Noddy as he's the most fuel efficient. Amy collected her milk today and said how much her husband enjoyed it. Always good to hear people enjoying our farm produce.
Dolly is being the most cool cow ever again. I go out back and call for her, and she comes. From whereever she is in the pasture, and she comes to whichever gate I'm at. I leave her to eat the alfalfa and grass on the back lawn and around the edges. Then she goes down to the lower barn all by herself. I go get the milk parlour ready and meet her. After milking, she goes and eats hay, and then lies down in the lower barn, chewing the cud, enjoying the coolth down there and not being responsible for Larry. A few hours later she'll wander up and out on to the back lawn and I take her back to the others. Boytjie still performs when he sees or hears me, but if I approach him, he backs off. So that little exercise of chasing him with the buggy worked. I still don't trust him, and keep the buggy / a fence / another cow between us when I enter the pasture. Dolly's not scared of Anni anymore either. When I tell Anni to take Dolly back to the pasture, she'll run up behind her, snapping, but Dolly just ignores her ! It confuses Anni. She's used to either chasing Dolly, or Dolly chasing her which she did after Larrys' birth.
Teri came over on Saturday and we started some feta. It turned out really well. I'm pleased as we did 2 lots, the one with ice-cold milk from the fridge, and it still worked. She brought some more yummy tomatoes, and we had some together with one of her courgettes for dinner today.
So great not having to run our clothes through the drier at least 2 x 99 minute cycles. Hoping this shows in our next utility bill, seeing as I don't have the new washline up yet.
I haven't been sleeping very much recently. I go to bed and can't sleep, so play on my phone. Had about 3 hours last night and was hoping to be sleeping around midnight tonight. We'll see :/
