Had to drag the floor jack to under the horse trailer as it pulled off the wooden block when I drove the truck out from under it when I parked it last time. Takes sooo long to do everything myself, but, hey, virtually everything can be done on the farm by one woman !! With tons of tools and equipment, of course.
Wonder if I should shower, yep, think that's a great idea. Clean the blood off my legs, going to have more scabs and bruises after this lot.
Teri arrived just as I was out of the shower to pick up some eggs. Showed her my "new to me" pressure canner, and she looked at all my canned jars until I came downstairs. Showed her the "Claussen pickles". She sniffed at them, wonderful aroma. Hope they turn out well. Maybe I should try some Claussen pickles to see what they're supposed to taste like. Only had 2 dozen eggs for her, she'd ordered 5, it's Sunday so Jim and Jenny needed 3 dozen, could only give them 2, Angel has to wait until Wednesday for her 2, and texted Eric and Liz back that I was going to Zeeland to deliver some sheep, and sorry, had sold all the eggs I had. Sorry everyone. Wish this fox would disappear so that we could get back to normal on the farm. Never a dull moment.
Drove to Zeeland, the directions I'd printed were great. Laura and Scott helped off-load the sheep. We put halters on them with leads, and each one led a sheep from the front to their new pen in the back. Should have had someone taping us, amazing how 3 sheep could be sooo difficult to move. They didn't recognise the white tub of grain, but we eventually got them in, they met up with the babies that Laura picked up from me earlier this year. Can't remember, but think that at least 1 of the lambs were the sprog of these sheep. Pretty cool to watch Scott kneeling amongst the sheep and goats, talking to them, hand feeding them grain. He was pleased to get 2 of the 3 eating out of his hand ! They've built a new shelter for the beasties, and Scott was fixing their gate when I arrived. They had the cutest puppy, all white, even white eyelashes, but I can't remember the make. Sort of like an Alaskan Malamut, but all white. She just wanted to play with Anni, who was more interested in sniffing the grass, funny girl. Drove home and stopped at the Catholic Church across from Andy and Teri. I was in such a tizz with the sheep that I didn't spend much time talking to her, so chatted a little. They re-roofed the house this week-end, looking good. Showed me their pond, with gold fish. Pretty cool. Home, backed the trailer back up to the chicken house, made sure that this time I didn't pull it off the wooden block, put the truck away. Watered the animals, gave the sheep more hay, checked on the baby guineas, put the chickens, ducks and geese to bed, let Rosco out, fed him and put dry food out for Anni.
Wow, still haven't gotten to can all the stuff in the kitchen. The sheep sort of took all day. Cooked the lambs ribs tonight. They are delicious. Remembered when I used to make them in South Africa. Could smell them when you drove up. Except I think they are better now as these are ribs from my own sheep. Yummy.
Well, off to bed with me, I'm exhausted and my leg burns. Must spray with more peroxide, those sheep hooves make nasty cuts.
Good night.
