Baked the bushel of beetroot in the oven while I was away, so now ready to peel, cut and can. Also have a bushel of green beans on the kitchen floor (in a bag, not lying on the floor LOL) 1/2 a bushel of tomatoes, some more baby red potatoes, green peppers and cucumbers - want to make salsa, can the beans - oohhh, lots to do and I took a nap this afternoon !
Watering the garden at present, it's been too dry again. 40 % chance of rain tomorrow, holding thumbs.
Checked the chickens tonight, yep, we've lost the silkie rooster and one white leghorn chicken. Don't know exactly how many more have disappeared, but there seems to be too few chickens in the coop. Also, only collecting about 2 dozen eggs, and still can't find where they are laying the woods. Story of farm life, huh ?
The Jersey bulls have taken to being very talkative. They moan, and call, and just make strange sounds for seemingly no reason.
Dolly gave close to 5 gallons of milk this morning ! What's up with that ? Put it in the basement so that I can collect the cream, it's been a while since I had enough to make butter. Will make yoghurt with the milk, interesting to see how it'll turn out.
Picked another handful of black raspberries today. The ripe ones are too few to make jam, not sure what to do with them. Maybe I should just eat them :).
