Looks like we have a new herd-share owner :). They're coming to the farm tomorrow for a look-see.
Yesterday evening I went with Jackie and her brother Bert to listen to Three Men and a Tenor in Grand Ledge. One of the singers is their 2nd cousin. Was a beautiful evening, but became rather chilly. And the singers did the ice bucket challenge before their final song. Herbie would have enjoyed them too.
It rained today, and is due to rain every day for the next week. Please, please, please God, we need a week of nice sunny days so that we can bring in our 3rd cutting of hay.
Put Big Red on Craigs' List looking for a swop. Had 3 people wanting to buy him, 1 for eating the other 2 to grow their herds, but no swops, and a guy who wanted to sell me one of his. Maybe I should sell him. We have the Summer taxes due in 2 weeks, so maybe I should. Also had someone call about the sheep this morning, but sounded more like a fishing expedition than a serious buyer.
We had a good week-end, had lunch out at Blue Louies' before going to SAMS where we got 90-days of allergy tablets each on script from the Drs, and it only cost $10 each ! Win-win.
Couldn't find Rosco tonight for his bone. Went to give the sheep their nightly bale, and he and Cooper shot out the shed ! Have no idea how he got in there, or how long he was closed up. Have all 4 cats and the 2 dogs trained for their "bone" at night. Actually meat sticks, a whole one each for the dogs and I divide one into 4 for the cats. And then they get a bowl of milk. Think I spoil them.
The chickens are growing nicely. Looks as if I have more than 50% girls though. Also waiting for the goslings to show their sex as I fully intend on butchering the excess drakes, roosters and ganders so that we only feed the egg-laying girls over the Winter.
After collecting the mail this afternoon, driving back up the driveway, saw that the one maple tree already has red leaves ! No, not already ! It's too soon.
Herbies' youngest goes back to school next week. This week-end Herbie was hoping that she'd come and visit him, but she's chosen to go up North instead, probably with her mum.. She has her drivers' license now, but it's highly unlikely that she'll be out here anytime soon. Feel sad for Herbie.
