Woke to rain this morning. Seems to have been a gully washer, need to squeegee out the garage again. Expected high of 91 this week, with the low on Friday of 38 ! Tjoe and brrrr ! Maybe it will be enough to grow some hay ?
Wonder how Jason and Cindys' newly planted grass fared. They were busy re-seeding and tacking rolls of cover after the last gully washer washed their seed and straw away.
Yep, Bambi is bagging. Although I must admit I'm enjoying this break from milking, but am missing the milk. Wanted to make chocolate muffins only to realise we don't have the necessary milk. Hmmm, and I so wanted them.
Mabels' birthday on Wednesday, and I'm thinking we'll be going over this year as she has been having issues with her legs and DH has been concerned. Can't remember when last we saw his mum. Maybe I'll take some farm produce for her.
Anni was a bad girl this morning, but suppose I'm to blame. For cross ventilation, I left 3 of the sheds doors open to dry the barley, 2 large roller doors and the small side door which I forgot to close before bed. This morning 2 of the cats bowls, a tin and a lid were outside and the fork I use to dish is missing. Also had to shoo chickens out.
Cooked some of our farm chicken thighs in my bourbon braai (BBQ) sauce last night. Had one this morning and it wasn't the greatest. Rather chewy and there was no bite to the sauce anymore. Note to self - don't do that again.
As usual for a Monday morning, they've called DH in to work early.
Just heard our single guinea go crazy out there. Grabbed the gun, but couldn't see anything. The geese were all looking out att the vegetable garden, but I didn't see anything to shoot. But called Dolly to come for milking, and with a lot of calling, she came ! Currently eating below the back lawn, with Boytjie watching her from inside the chute. I'll go ready the milking machine and get her down there, afterwards will put mastitis meds in each teat and she should be good u til her calf is born Oct 30. Now that guinea is jist calling. The last keet died yesterday, that was $46 down the tubes. Don't understand why as they seemed healthy, and I've raised 2 lots of guineas, as well as chickens, ducks and geese successfully previously.
