Buried Sargeant out back this morning The vet put him down yesterday afternoon after a farming accident while I was mowing the hayfield. You will be missed, little buddy. He was such a joyful little dog, our first-born, so to speak. Herbie said he'd miss the way Sargeant used to run past the geese, keeping an eye on me, and if I didn't shout, then he'd give them a chase, and if I did shout, sort of veer off while continuing running. I'll miss him on the buggy, sitting on the dashboard in the truck, trying to sneak closer to me under the review mirror, sitting on the back step waiting for me, doing his little dance for his bone at night, hopping up onto my lap when we were sitting outside and lying with me on the hammock. Anni is sort of lost as well, so I'm keeping her with me more until we settle into the new without Sarge life. We are all just a little sad.
