Put grain in Bambis' milking feeder to keep her out of the way, but she still stress-pooped up there. Mabel sort of hovered around, staying out of the way. Then called her a little later to come for milking after I'd had a cup of tea and cleaned up the milk parlour and lower barn. Don't really know why I bothered. She pooped going into the lower barn, pee'd in the stall, pooped in the stall, and pooped on her way out. Just beautiful, Bambi ! Beautiful. Only gave just over 1/2 gallon of milk, so either the catching of the calves was really stressful on her, or the stressed Mabel came for more comfort from mum and drained her. Think tomorrow after milking I'll take Bambi back to the pasture with the others, leaving Mabel behind to entice her back again after a while. When Dolly and Buttercup had their first calves, they ate for about an hour before standing at the pasture gate bawling to get back to their calves. Hoping the same works for Bambi, but not sure. She steps right up into the milk parlour now, although sometimes runs past the lower barn door, like today, so I have to chase and then head her off. She knows what's expected, she's just sometimes a cow :)
Another brilliant sunny day here in Michigan. I feel like taking a nap after my early morning and then the bit of exercise with the calves. Have Anni in the garage as I'm trying to ascertain whether there are actually more eggs than I've been collecting recently. Maybe I'll put her in with Rosco and the sheep, probably time she had a reminder that they are her size, and the boys have horns and can .
