Cold and wet dreary day. I found a YouTube instuction on how to make ciabatta, so whipped it up yesterday morning. Had to rest / rise for 18 hours, then onto the baking sheet, and another 2 hours - so it's a long process, but oh, so, worth it. It's a no-knead recipe which is easier, just mix together and then wait.
Unfortunately I forgot about it and didn't do the first knock-down early this morning, so it all ran a little later and Herbie didn't get to eat it for brunch.
Filled the dehydrator with morel mushrooms. Cut most of them into half and picked out the slugs and other creepy crawlies. The ones I cooked for breakfast I also cut in half, shook the bugs out, then soaked in salt water before rinsing, drying and popping into the hot cast iron pan. Not as much as the first lot I cooked, but there was still a little bit of crunchy pieces. Betsi came yesterday to buy eggs, said she dried them and then just shook them once dry and again before re-hydrating. Hope that works :). Otherwise we'll just get some additional protein.
The ducklings are so cute. They venture out towards the middle of the back yard to wallow in one of the puddles until the geese chase them back towards their enclosure. Yesterday 6 guinea keets were with them, but today they were playing by themselves.
Niece and Hugh have settled in with the other sheep and are only bottle fed through the fence twice a day. Alrhough they do let me know when it's feeding time :). Liquorices' girl twins are so cute. Think I'll keep the mottled one and Laceys' brown boy for butcher / sale as a feeder. So after the 3 Daron wants, Wanda, Hugh and Laceys' white boy, will have 4 girls for sale, Liquorices' brown one with white on her forehead, Buttercups' twin girls, one white and the black one with the white in her ears and butt and Niece, Strawberrys' bummer girl.
