He was agitated, I tried chasing him without much success. Then led all the cows out of the front pasture with the grain bucket, and with a bit of prompting and throwing things, he went down the channel to the loading enclosure. Larry was hiding next to the trailer, and as soon as he was in, he crawled out and lifted the gate on him. Voila, one caught bull.
Herbie is mad with me because he wanted to cut the hay field today, but I didn't want him too. It poured with rain the past 2 days, and all that water has to evaporate, so to my mind, having cut hay lying on the ground means it is just going to get wet, even if it doesn't actually rain, although the forecast is for up to 40% rain each day until and including Saturday. If it doesn't rain on Saturday, then cutting it should work as Monday and Tuesday only have a 10% chance. Herbie obviously doesn't agree, and is sulking and won't talk to me. He walked off saying it was my farm and I was to do what I wanted. If I had to take the same attitude, I couldn't do any work with the tractor, truck or zero-turn mower, as they aren't mine.
OK, Gabriel definitely has barber pole worms. Now just trying to figure out how to medicate him, as well as the rest of the herd, the alpacas and horses as they're all out in the pastures. Can't put it in their water as there are fish in the trough and I'm not sure they'll drink it if it's medicated and how do you measure what each one gets. Looking on-line, pour-on works well for cows, so I'm trying to figure out how to re-hang the back pour-on roll with only one arm. It's heavy, and really muddy underneath. Maybe I can back the buggy under where it's supposed to go and then climb in the back and do it from there. Yep, that should work. Need to re-install the side hook as Boytjie pulled it out when he pulled the roll down. Don't think I'd be able to get close enough to him to give him a Vit B shot either. But that discolours the meat, and he is destined for the table at some stage. The horses and alpacas should do fine with paste, but except for Star and Dolly, the rest of the cows aren't tame enough to handle.
