End of our week-end. Dad and Herbie are sleeping, and I just have to give the dogs and cats their evening treats which I call "bones" but aren't anymore, and go close the chicken house and yards.
Yesterday, the 2 men replaced the drum in my washing machine, and hauled the "new" standby machine dad brought for me as well down to the laundry. He keeps saying that we live too far for him to help when things go wrong. So now I have 3 washing machines and 2 driers in the laundry. Wow. Need to find new homes for the 2 that were originally in the house.
Then they worked on the instant water heater in the lower barn. Dad should finish it up tomorrow. Yippee, can't wait to have hot water in the feed room. No more schlepping buckets through the tunnel. What am I going to do with all that extra time I'm going to have ;) ? Hhmmm ?
I moved Dolly and Larry back to the pasture with the other cows yesterday, and today she gave me 4 gallons of milk ! Unfortunately our Wednesday herd-share owner dropped out today, so I put 2 gallons into the fridge for drinking, and started the next batch of yoghurt with the rest. Between Herbie, Dad and I, we are drinking close to a gallon a day. It's sooo good. I shake the cream back into the milk and then pour thick, delicious, ice-cold cow-juice for us.
Today they worked on the silver Honda, taking the engine out to replace the broken transmission. Tried to use the tractor with boom to remove it, but it can't be controlled that well and ended up dropping. Fortunately Dads' hands weren't in the way as that could have been disastrous. So I found a cherry picker on Craigs' List, and Dad and I went to buy it an hour away. Some other parts were broken on the engine when it fell, and although Dad has them, they're in Tennessee, not here in Michigan.
I'm a very spoilt girl. Dad brought me a Grand Caravan van. So we've gone from sharing the one truck to 3 cars, will be 4 once the Honda is back up and running. Only the truck has 4WD though, so the other 3 will stuggle to get up our driveway in Winter, but Dad thought maybe we could trade the van in on an older 4WD van. Seeing as Herbies youngest daughter now has a car, maybe we could trade it in with the van on another 4WD car.
Well, that's me for tonight. Goodnight.
