Was down to 21 last night. Have the house at 68 during the night, turning it up a little in the late afternoon / early evening.
Whole house heating is actually a phenomenal invention, if you think about it. In my apartment in South Africa I had underfloor heating, but it was horribly expensive to run, and not really needed for any extended periods of time. I had a LP gas heater that I used to use some evenings. But with the days in Winter being sunny and relatively warm, and the Winters' so short in comparison to those here, whole home heating is not a must have. But then houses don't have air conditioning either. Never really got unbearably hot, just used to open a cross draft window, or go down to the pool :). Yet here in Michigan, the weather has such extremes, I don't think we could be comfortable without airconditioning, and I know we can't live here without heat.
The new furnace is quieter than the old one, and looking at our utility bills, they've billed us estimates the past 3 months, so I'm interested in what's going to happen this month.
Daisy May is holding her milk, or Eleanor is drinking too much ! May have gotten ½ a gallon from her for each of the last 2 days. Perhaps it's time to separate them overnight. Thinking that at 4 months Larry may be old enough to be weaned. I know it's earlier than some of the others, but Dolly is so loud and bossy. Star has settled, as have her 2 boys. No more complaining from any of them.
Parrot is a beautiful boy, our future bull. Shaw is darker, with his little horns like a devils'. Larry is also beautiful and his horns are little :).
Made a huge bowl of yoghurt last night. Was nearly 5 gallons of milk ! Used the last of the honey, so also added some maple syrup and the vanilla. It turned out very well.
Used the last of our salmon today making salmon cakes. Coated in panko, fried and served with French fries. It's lasted over a year. The freezer is looking rather empty. Time for a beastie to go to freezer camp.
