I'm coughing until I want to throw up, and then I pee myself. So cough on the loo, not so fun being ill. Have the wood cook-stove burning merrily, so the house is nice and warm, at least it is down here, our bedroom is probably freezing. Must go switch DHs side of the electric blanket on, he'll be sore and cold when he gets home. Arrived home at about 4 this morning, that dispatcher is trying to kill him.
Jackie brought me some oxtail soup and a box of sore throat tea. It seems to work, but dang, it tastes horrible. Went out and did some shopping today, needed more meds for Bambi, dog and cat food. Spoilt them tonight, gave them each an additional tin. Cool to see the kitties snuggled in the sheeps' wool in the garage. Seen Cooper, Bandit and Marmalade there, not Mischka, she usually sleeps up on the shelf next to the kitchen door. Anni sleeps on the buggy, Rosco outside, from the holes that have been dug in the side garden, I presume that's where he has been bunking.
Opened the vegetable garden to the cows last night. They have munched there all day, except Gabriel, Bambi and Mabel. They are too stupid to find their way into the garden. Silly for Gabriel, he's been in there before. Tried to chase Bambi and Mabel in, but gave up. They were the only ones at the hay bale today, even the alpacas were eating grass. Would think that they'd be at the hay as the cows weren't, but no. They didn't go into the vegetable garden either. I broke ice on all the water troughs twice today, need to find all the extension cords and run the water de-icers out. Think we only have 2 working ones. one for the sheep, one for the cows, but currently have 3 troughs for the cows. Maybe I'll move one up in the vegetable garden, closer to the electric fencer. Unplugged the fencer and put an additional extension cord onto the wire, and then couldn't get it off, so re-plugged the fencer in with a whole loop of cord. Will have to have DH undo it. Didn't milk Bambi today. Put mastitis meds up her back left teat on Thursday. Not 100% sure she has mastitis as there is not strings or lumps, only oily looking yellow yellow milk stuff. I've been feeding it directly to the cats, they still lap it up. Will check her again tomorrow and re-apply if it doesn't look better. Her back udder is being very strange, it gets sort of indented, never seen that before, and she has the hard half in the centre. I massage it with the hot wash cloth, and then with cooling udder cream with aromatherapy oils, pushing my fingers into the mass to break it up. She's been rather good, but then I've been very careful not to hurt her. I can anticipate her leg movements, stand close to her which inhibits her kicking.
Found 7 eggs today, whooppee. Gave Jackie a dozen. Still have 1 1/2 here for us, been making scrambled eggs for breakfast, and plan on doing some more baking. After the cinnamon rolls the other night, I teased DH saying that he'd be as big as a house if I baked more often. Me too. Never seen myself as much of a baker. But the cinnamon rolls were with baking powder, not yeast. With the cook-stove going, I've been thinking of grinding some barley for flour, adding it to some oats, also ground, and then some of the spelt flour I bought from the last co-op pick-up, and starting a loaf or two. Hmm, maybe that's a good idea. Stocked up with butter from Meijers, they were selling for $2 / lb so I think I bought 10 lbs salted and 4 lbs unsalted. They also had Philadelphia Cream cheese for $ 1.25 each, the tag said less 26 c to make it 99 c but the woman at the till said it was only for 1 item per order, so I stocked up on them too. Think they are usually $3.59 or something.
Well, I'm coughing again, so bye for now.
