Yesterday we went to look at, and subsequently bought, 2 horses. So exited, and apprehensive, mixed feelings. They're about 9 years old, siblings. A 16 hand gelding Herbie is naming Mad Max, and a girl for me, thinking about calling her Missy. They've never been ridden, or been saddled, so going to have to train them. Herbie has a few calls out to people offering buggies, so will also need to train them to pull a buggy. Photos to follow soonest.
Going to fetch them this morning. Got the lower barn enclosure ready for them yesterday, put a replacement metal gate where I had the temporary electric wire fence seeing as the wooden gate is still iced / snowed open. Put a fresh bale of hay out for them, need to shore up the fence next to the front shed doors where Anni and Rosco hop over as we don't want the horses to go walk-about.
Tonights' milking is going to be interesting. Getting Star in while not allowing the horses to get out.
They are curious and a little cautious. Would not take carrots or apples from me. Herbie is still out there with them, I'm back inside, letting them get used to their new home.
