Talking to a guy about possibly swopping our 4 calves at Randys' for nearly 5,000 lbs of barley, or the equivalent of $ 1,500. This will be a large portion of feed for the poultry and milk cows this coming Winter. Spoke to Randy about getting the calves, and he's upset with me ! The agreement was that we'd get one each heifer and bull calves every year for Brownies' services. We didn't get any calves last year, as it was dry and we couldn't feed them. So far this year, Randy advised he had 1 heifer and 2 bull calves for us, around 4 months old now - short 1 heifer calf. He wants to meet the guy who gets the calves ! Wants to know what he's going to do with them ! It's none of my business, so why should he think it's his ? When I stopped in last week and talked to him about getting the calves, he said he was getting a milk cheque shortly, and would talk to me about giving us the money instead of the calves. But he can't give us $ 1,500 like Larry can. We were supposed to switch out Brownie for one of the 18 month-old bulls we have here, but now he says he doesn't want to do that, will just go buy another bull, and wanted to know what we were going to do with Brownie. Well, when I know when we are getting him back, I'll put him up on CL for possible stud - he is beautiful and makes beautiful babies. Otherwise we could butcher him, which Randy didn't approve of either. He got very quiet when I said that even if I just landed up having him made into hamburger to feed the dogs ! Well, that didn't go as planned. But then, what part of my life is planned !
Worsie
Our mix, Worsie. Think she's turning out to be beautiful. She has black stripes and is growing little horns. Daisy May - August 2013 Daisy May - Born May 2012, think she's preggers with her first. Bambi - August 2013 Bambi scratching an itch. Dolly - August 2013 Some of our cows, Dolly in the sunshine. Successfully broke another piece of farm equipment today - the shaft from the PTO to the sickle mower snapped today and I'd only gone around the field 1 1/2 times !
