Dolly needs to be brought up to the house and half milked, her udder is large and she's uncomfortable, but she won't come by herself, and the thought of dragging her is exhausting.
Yesterday I re-raked the barley so that it dries and does not burst into flame, and brought a whole sprinkling into the house in the folds of my jeans. Picked that up by hand this morning. Also unloaded the small square bales from the horse trailer, found we were one short, but just parked the truck with the 2 round bales still on. Need to put the bale spear on the big tractor and take them off, but the fly-wheel keeps on getting stuck on it and I'm not strong enough to turn the engine. Excuses, excuses.
Need to pick through the tomatoes and make that salsa I promised DH. Canned the braai sauce yesterday (Bourbon BBQ recipe), and could make some more as DH likes it.
Need to finish my walk-in cupboard, which has been "in the works" for the past year and a half, so that I can move my clothes back into it, and utilize the walk-through cupboard between the 2 bedrooms as a canning cupboard. But just the idea of schlepping all my canned goods upstairs makes me wilt. Maybe I should just clean out my pantry cupboard, wage a war on all the spiders, mice, moths etc that have taken up residence there, put additional supports under the shelves (they were bought a year ago) paint everything a nice clean white, and use that for what it was intended, canned goods.
The kitchen needs a serious going over, as does the rest of the house. Bought a vacuum cleaner that can was carpets as well. Needless to say, it's never been used for that purpose. I don't think I can remember how to assemble it to wash anything ! There is a DVD somewhere .....
I've been printing out recipes for canning and other dishes that look good, which is adding to the paperwork that seems to be covering every surface of the house.
Aaarrrggg. I need help, or a lobotomy or something. Inspiration ?? Or just to buckle down and do it all.
Winter is just around the corner, I'm sort of starting to panic.
