We are experiencing an ice-storm. I can hear the wind blowing, and the occasional crack of a branch. Anni and Rosco run out and bark every now and again, but otherwise it is totally quiet. No machinery running at all.
Our power went out about 1/2 an hour ago. I called our energy supplier. About 150 houses are dark in our area and there is currently no information on when power will be restored. I let them know we have livestock, so no electric fences and their water will probably freeze. Then texted my DH letting him know that I'll leave a torch for him.
Lart night he got home around 1:30am and he was shaking from the drive home on some very slick roads. He's been a professional driver for years here in Michigan, which isn't known for it's mild Winters' and he said he hasn't been that scared before. A car going up a hill in front of him started sliding backwards, a very good reason I've stayed here for 2 days. He said the Dually would be all over the road. I pray that he is safe. Can't believe that his dispatcher has him out working in this weather. Bad enough that he drives a bomb, an uncontrollable one is horrific.
Al I did today was feed and water beasties, and use the metal scraper to clear some of the ice from the driveway and walkway between the house and shed.
Missed a call from Teri. Maybe I'll catch her tomorrow. With this ice she will probably not get up our driveway, and I'm loathe to take the truck down if I don't have to.
Wanted to bake some squash from our garden for the pumpkin pie I'm making for Christmas lunch; maybe tomorrow.
Well, think I'll head up to bed. Can't shower, so just a quick clean and into bed.
Good night, and if your weather is awful, be careful out there.
