Tomorrow we should be going morel hunting again, and I'm confident we'll start finding them after last nights' rain. I woke at about 4:30am to thunder and lightning, and this morning there was about an inch in the outside dogs' bowl, plus about an additional ½ inch in the tunnel and large puddles all over the backyard. Happy ducks and geese.
Went out and picked a whole basketful of bright yellow dandelion flowers today. Then spent a few hour snipping the green parts off, and have started making Dandelion Jelly. By all reports, it comes out tasting like honey. We'll see.
Saw a bit of Teri on Friday when she bought eggs, but missed her on Sunday when she dropped off some hot pepper starts and 2 other containers of growing things, as I was down in the milking parlour.
Think Daisy May is on heat today ! Gave us a merry chase in what is supposed to be a quick trip across the backyard to the lower barn. 2 hot and sweaty humans, 1 of them very pissed off, a cow stress-pooping liquid from the chase and a hole in the buggys' back tyre - damn, something else to fix.
Reconnected with a guy we used to work with on the other side of the State today, and were amazed that Steve is on FB !
All the trees are starting to green. It's so pretty outside. The one cherry tree is covered in white flowers already, hope we don't have a late frost still to come, the berry bushes are pregnant with buds. Even saw a few white flowers on the strawberries ! Can't wait for the pastures to grow some more so I can let the cows and horses out into the fresh grass. Will be nice not to have to buy hay for a few months. Actually used the last bale from our hayfield for the sheep today.
