Our big big tractor is at Craigs’, waiting to be fixed. When Herbie came home from work today, he complained it’s still sitting outside his workshop barn. I reminded him that he’d told Craig that we were in no rush for it :).
When I went to pick up 2 bales of hay from Mike, saw he’d baled the field next door. Asked if it was his 3rd cutting, nope, his 4th. No fair !! I only got 2 miserly cuttings from our field. Maybe now with the rain, we’ll get a third. IF we get the tractor back in time.
Was stung by a bloody paper wasp again last night after putting the little tractor back into the shed after giving a fresh bale of hay to the Jersey girls. Got me high on my ankle, with a smaller 2nd sting on my side. It must have been caught in my clothes, as that 2nd one happened while I was feeding the FrankenChickens. Needless to say, I’m hobbling around with an angry, red, swollen foot, ankle and lower leg. It’s OK if it’s raised, but as soon as I put it down and try walk on it, it’s excruciating. Spraying it with Benadryl anti-itch spray which works for a short while.
Have 34 new chicks ordered, the 4 are roosters-to-be, and will be butchering virtually my whole existing flock. With the 29 FrankenChickens, we are going to have a lot of chicken ! The laying hens will mainly be ground up for chicken nuggets and used for stock. Want to can a whack of that. Manda has about 6 she wants to process, so will come over and help. I know what I’ll be doing the next few Sundays. Need to shift stuff around to make room in the freezers. Also, it’s hunting season, so hopefully we’ll get some venison from Brads’ hunting in our woods. Missed getting any last year :(
