It's Friday night.
Learnt something new about our sheep today. Bill is arriving early tomorrow to hunt that deer for me, so has asked that we don't have Rosco running around. OK, so tonight I took his bowl of dry dogfood to the sheep enclosure where he's now confined. Prince, our ram, immediately started eating the dogfood ! Buttercup was waiting her turn. Mr B came over, but Rosco took him on, growling and physically jumping on him, biting him until I called him off. He didn't tackle Prince, but was growling at Buttercup, putting his mouth around her neck, alrhough she stood her ground ! Well that's not going to work So I took him back to the lower barn enclosure. Bambi is tied up in her milking stall with Mabel with her, and the 2 calves are staying close to them, in the lower barn. Even the 3 lambs are hanging out in the barn. So safe for Rosco to be there.
Talking to DHs eldest daughter about them maybe coming to live here on the farm, she, her son and baby daddy. Could use the help, but don't know if it will pan out.
Went and picked some produce today, ready to make some more canned goods !
Bambi is much calmer. I go and check on her and Mabel every few hours, make sure she has hay and water. I ring the bell and then give her a little grain in the feeder, trying to train her. Bit more work having to keep removing her poop, but she's also getting used to the lead, so I think it may be the way to go. Got over 1 1/2 gallons from her today. Mabels' tummy seems to be settling down as well.
Had a peanut butter mishap today. Bought a 9 lb bucket of pure peanuts with salt through the co-op for Herbie. It separates and is softer than the Jiff brand so it has to be stirred. I wanted some with golden syrup, spread it on a slice of bread, put the lid back on, then tipped it to read the ingredients. It leaked out the back, down the cupboard, onto the floor ! Damn, I didn't close it properly ! Anni wouldn't eat it so I had to clean it up !
Well, am going to put some Swiss chard in the dehydrator,, and make pesto with some basil. Have an interesting recipe for canned cole slaw I want to try.
