Took Dad to Grand Rapids yesterday afternoon in Noddy. Herbie was amazed that we fitted all his car parts and tools inside, but I've never met anyone who could match a Shaw packing a car :). He gets to sleep in his own bed tonight. We'll miss him, the days just flew by. He forgot 2 small wire / aerial type pieces, which I'll to him mail tomorrow.
Put the engine back into the Honda, I helped man the cherry picker while Dad guided it from underneath the car, and fastened the necessary bolts. Short 2 sensors that broke when the tractor boom dropped it, but Dad will send them up from Tennessee and Herbie can install them.
Didn't get to complete installing rhe instant water heater in the feed-room, but I think I can do it by myself.
Dad showed me how the drier piping packa full of lint. Cleared it out, and can dry a full load of washing in under 40 minutes. Was takimg 3 x 99 minute cycles previously, so hopefully we'll see a drop in our gas bill. Don't think they got to fix the gas leak where it attaches to the drier - I'll have to look at that.
Went to call Dolly for milking today, and she totally ignored me ! Went walking off as if she didn't hear me, but Star turned to look at me so I know she heard me. Loaded hay into the back of the buggy, went to put it in their feeder. Dolly was now back in the pond, being escorted by all 3 of the bulls, Boytjie, Gabriel and Big Red, so she must be in heat. They all came running when they saw I had hay, and Boytjie went into his bad-boy routine. I stayed between the feeder and the buggy while he head-butted the other side of the buggy. Nope, I had to teach him a lesson, so I hopped into the buggy and chased him down. Round the front pasture, out around the pond, horses scattering, back into the front pasture, back around the pond into the barbed-wire pasture, out into the main pasture above the pond, against the fence to the hayfield, back into the front pasture, me screaming like a banshee at him, he running as fast as he could but I stuck as close to him as I could get.
Yet, when I took Dolly back after milking, he started his song and dance all over again ! Suppose I'm not that scary without the buggy.
Didn't milk yesterday as It was late and Herbie was home when I arrived back from taking Dad to his ride back to TN, and she gave me around 4 gallons today. She's such a good cow, although she tried to eat my hair off the top of my head today. Wrapped her rough tongue around it and pulled ! Silly girl. At least she doean't try to hang out in the lower barn anymore. We have the routine of returning to the pasture down pat, I didn't even close the lower barn enclosure gate behind her when we arrived. And she hasn't pooped or pee'd in to lower barn or the milking stall in ages, so clean-up is much quicker for me.
Herbie has arrived home from work, a 15 hour day, and we're watching the end of the golf. Ernie Els had a good day, but he's not in the final 4, and Herbies baseball team is playing their 19th inning, for 6 hours already. I asked if they were playing cricket :)
