Bambi was annoying today. Had to coax her into the milk parlour, twice, and then she pooped big sloppy ones in the lower barn for me to clean. Got over 1 1/2 gallons from her. Shortened the rope I attach her to the stall with, so she can't bump the milk bucket over when she backs up anymore.
Did some weeding in the tomatoes this afternoon, picked a whole whack of them. Also green peppers, small yellow pear tomatoes, green beans, broccoli and 2 squash. Washed the broccoli, steamed it, drained and put on a tray in the freezer. Will bag the individual florets tomorrow.
Put salsa ingredients in the crock-pot, onions, green peppers, cayenne peppers with seeds, Italian paraley, peeled tomatoes, drained and chopped them. Forgot the garlic, will pop some in now.
Also started another batch of Bourbon BBQ sauce, maybe there'll be enough to can some :).
Still have pumpkin, artichoke, potatoes, tomatoes, green beans and apples and pears to can. Need to dig up the sweet potatoes and figure out how to harvest the various grains we planted.
DH unpacked the 16 ft beams for me from the back of the truck yesterday. Hitched up the horse trailer, traipsed over to Westphalia to see if I could load any more of our calves. No luck. He claims the next expected pure Jersey calves only due in March 2014.
DH told me this morning how much he enjoyed looking out his bathroom window and seeing my flower garden. The chickens have destroyed about half of what I originally planted, but the remaining flowers are doing well. The roses are looking good as well. Obviously no flowers this late in the year, but green leaves still. Hopefully they get a chance to do better next year ie, no lambs with a rose penchant.
So once again, the kitchen looks a mess ! Need to unpack the dishwasher, and re-pack.
