Have had some interest in our Jerseys for sale, but not for the Scottish Highlands. One guy came and looked, but can only buy end December, hopefully they are gone by then, well they would be as if I don't sell them on CL, they'll go to auction.
DH went to work early again today, but he still spoilt me by doing all the chores first, except the milking, Bambi doesn't let him near her, so she's mine, all mine. He even did the watering of the cows which is horrible, and consists of filling the 2 x 18 gallon buckets on the back of the buggy by short hose, then driving out and dumping them into the troughs. Takes about 5 trips per trough and there are 2, the wind is howling, it's cold, but no more snow yet. That's expected tonight / tomorrow.
Need to go get more dog and cat food, I had just pulled up to WalMart on Tuesday when DH called to say a guy had arrived to see the cows. So I came home without doing any shopping, at least I picked up the cheese and ear candles from Jackie, and did the banking.
Have lost another herd-share owner. This unreliability of Bambi has really not worked out well for us, but at least her udder is getting better. I hand milked that one back quarter yesterday after having the machine on her, could feel the lumps in the teat and struggled to get some of them out, but at least I can milk the quarter out now. Hopefully it's much better today. Even the cracks on the outer teats are healing, the lanolin is working, and Bambi is enjoying me brushing her, although she still doesn't like me getting too close to her face / neck, but I can do anything with her udder :) Maybe she'll allow Mabel to nurse off the back teats shortly, that would be marvelous.
Made a huge pot of beef soup yesterday, with our Scottish Highland beef and sugar beans I had canned, various vegetables, lots of garlic and some extra marrow bones. Yummy.
It's DHs' youngest daughters 16th birthday today and was his grand-boy-childs' 2nd birthday yesterday. Time sure does fly, doesn't it ?
Well, let me get back out there. So much to do !
RIP President Nelson Mandela. You were a wonderful example of the human race.
Sympathies to Graca Machel, widowed again.
