Herbie cut one swathe around the hayfield. We checked the weather forecast, he turned the tractor and haybine around, and I cut the next round. A beautiful, 9-foot long, perfectly even, cut of hay. So excited. I asked him, if the haybine cuts so well, what did he think a discbine would do ???
Should be able to finish cutting the field tomorrow, rake it on Friday, and bale Saturday - our 2nd cutting for the year. Really need to put up a new barn for it as it won't fit in the upper barn, while the lower barn is too damp to store hay.
This morning Jackie picked me up and we went cherry picking. Literally. 11.7 lbs of big, dark, juicy cherries. Reminds me of Christmas in South Africa, when I used to splurge every year by buying a large box of cherries. Stopped at a greenhouse, Jackie knows all these wonderful places, where I got some herbs and Roma tomato plants. Neither of us found anything at the Goodwill.
Took Dolly back to the pasture after milking her this morning while leaving Larry in the lower barn. She stayed by the gate, not going grazing with the others, just waited for me to allow her back to her calf. Silly girl. Larry was happy, lay down and went to sleep while I shovelled the rest of the horse shit out the door. Now just need to put the rake on the tractor and clear it into a pile which then can go on the garden.
Went and picked up a load of corn from Mike after doing a quick town trip for some banking and stocking up.
Teri, I went to WalMart, and saw the bottles I'd bought for the keffir, and yep, they're $3 each.
Think I can start sharing milk again next week. My dad should be coming next week too and I can't wait ! Plus he's bringing a replacement washing machine, and a spare ! Wonder if he can fix the furnace ? Know he's bringing a transmission for the silver Honda. Will be so nice to have transport again. These past 3 weeks have been difficult.
Read something interesting the other day. The weak seek revenge, the strong forgive, but the intelligent ignore. Hmmm. Hasn't really worked for me. I've always ignored and then am slam-dunked with major crap out of nowhere ! I've never thought I'm that interesting, so why people find it necessary to talk about me really baffles me. Fortunately, it seems that a lot of people just listen to my voice and not the actual words :). Herbie says he wishes he could do that. But that he's one of those husbands' who actually listens to his wife. Only been married 5 years, give the man time !
Tried to move the bantam chicken and her eggs from the eaves of the chicken house to the garage, but she didn't want to know, so took the eggs back. She hatched 1 gorgeous chick last week, but I found it dead near the chicken coop door a day later.
Well busy day tomorrow, so goodnight all. Sweet dreams.
