The weather report predicts temps of 31 degrees on Thursday. Sort of sad getting excited for still below freezing weather ! I've lived in Michigan for 7 years already, and each Winter has been worse than the previous one. But my DH has lived here all his life, so I fully understand why going South is so enticing for him :)
He went to work early today, so we did the fresh bale for the cows, and the watering, together, but the truck got stuck in the gateway, 4-WD didn't help any. I brought the tractor back down from it's position above where we were going to place the bale, DH attached the strap and I pulled him out. When we had finished and he'd taken the truck back to the shed, I blew the snow from the back yard up through the veggie garden up to the bale feeder. Shouldn't get stuck next time.
Boytjie has such a funny voice. He was talking to us, running around and kicking sideways. Very brave, methinks. Who knows what bumps are hidden by the snow. My ankle hurts just considering it.
I blew the driveway, another 2 inches last night, plus snowing on and off all day. Then dug around the doorways, and around the chicken coop. Did the rest of the chores. Only found 3 eggs today, and another dead chicken. She was the worse one that I sprayed yesterday. Sprayed her again this morning and moved her with her bum to the corner as I saw another chicken peck her, taking a strip of flesh. So difficult to handle, as I've discovered that if you isolate the hurt ones, they still die.
So pleased to have PBS stations on TV now. Watching a beautiful show on the Victoria Falls. Makes me rather nostalgic for the warmth of Africa, and hearing the Fish Eagles, reminds me of all the ones I've seen in various game reserves. Love the elephants, and my favourites, the hippos.
