Bambi is such a funny cow. Took her back to the pasture after milking this afternoon, but let her in to the vegetable garden as all the other cows were there and that's where she headed. Mabel was in the main enclosure and I was hoping that Bambi would call Mabel to her.
Could hear Bambi calling, so layered up, took the torch and went looking for her. She was still in the vegetable garden, Mabel still in the main pasture. Went into the vege garden, called Bambi like I do when she is in the milking parlour, and she came towards me, but then stopped. I went behind her and we walked through the 2 open gates towards Mabel. Probably a good thing that they were separated for about 6 hours, as I put additional meds in Bambis' 2 back teats as she was still hard in the centre and her milk is not good yet, so it had more time to work without Mabel sucking it out.
Can still hear some bawling out there, but think it's Gabriel. He's the only other one who hasn't found his way into the vege garden, he's 14 months old but still drinks from mum Scotch so he's complaining. But, he won't let me near, I've tried a few times to move him to the vege garden.
Will take another bale of hay out to them tomorrow. I broke the ice on their drinking troughs again while I was out, no wonder I'm not getting better, outside too much.
Massaged my DH with the warming oil today. It's so cold when he has to load and off-load the tanker, it gives him an extra layer of warmth. Watched him put 2 pairs of thermal underwear on today for work, poor baby.
Think we're going to his mums' for Christmas. His daughters will be there and his grandson, together with the rest of his family. So no drinking for me as I'll probably be the driver, unless, of course, the roads are bad.
Off to bed with me. Like the Vicks on my soles, it works and I don't cough.
