Thought I'd fixed all the holes in the fence around the sheep, but heard Lisa barking last night. Grabbed the big torch, and opened the front door without switching any lights on, and there she was, inside the sheep enclosure again. Shouted at her and couldn't believe where she got in - she moved a board about 2ft off the ground ABOVE THEIR WATER TROUGH !!! She struggled to get out, with me shouting at her. Told her to go to the garage, met her there and tied her up. Bloody dog.
Planted the fruit trees, berries, rhubarb, lavender and 1/2 of the bulbs. Just the iris bulbs still need to be planted, plus the butterfly bush and the variegated dogwood. Planted the lily bulbs at the side of the house, hope they're happy there. Also got the 2 paw paw trees fenced, as Maddie, and the geese, eat their leaves and actually break off pieces of branches. Maddie was eating the new blueberry bush leaves, gnawing at the new fruit trees, eating the blackberry leaves - oy, I have a monster deer. She understands "NO" but has a very short attention span and returns again and again. Mulched lots too, but Maddie also thinks that it is just more food for her.
Gabriel dismantled the 2nd hay ring feeder. I'm going to have to drag the barless one into the veggie garden for him. He lifts that one too and moves it away from the hay, but at least he leaves it intact, or at least he has so far. So have 2 to fix now. Wonder if I have enough washers and bolts for the 2nd one. Need to find a stronger solution.
Early next week I need to run the extension cords for the water deicers, as we are seemingly going to have snow on Thursday. And roll the hosepipes up and put them away, leaving only one that I'll do all the watering with. The system from last year worked well, drag it down the driveway to let it drain then use it again the next day. Much better than the buckets on the back of the buggy. I've been keeping the pulsator from the milking machine in the house basement to keep it working this past week already.
In the kitchen I canned the apple butter, it is very very yummy. Think I'll eat it straight with a teaspoon. Having left it in the fridge for a week thickened it up nicely. Processed 5 pineapples into jars too, they were $1.25 each at Aldis :). The strawberry jam I made last year were in the garage fridge with plastic screw top lids, so I put canning lids on them and processed them too. There was 1 black raspberry jam and did it too. I found 2 boxes of brand new pint jars in the basement, so I'm not short anymore. Still need to reprocess the dandelion jelly.
Just realised besides fetching the grain on Monday and stopping for BOSS at Family Farm & Home on the way home (they're the cheapest) I haven't left the farm. Not having any money sure puts a crimp in any shopping. Today Manda told me she owed me money for milk, I hadn't twigged that it was a new month :). So some money coming in. Haven't had any takers on the cows I have on Craigs List. Had some enquiries, but nothing solid. Maybe I'll put Coco up for sale by herself seeing as most people who were interested only wanted the heifer calf. I've also made a list of stuff I can sell. Will see how that goes. Dolly needs to go to butcher, that will be about $200 in butchering costs but should give me about 400lbs of hamburger. I've been applying for jobs for a few months now, but nothing yet on that side either. Sometimes I wonder what the plan for my life is. Oh well, what will be, will be.
I'm showered and my hair is nearly dry, so I'll go downstairs and make a mug of Golden Milk and then come back to bed. Goodnight.
