Moved all the empty canning jars and canning stuff down to the shelving DH built for me under the stairs. Putting them all in one place was an eye-opener as I didn't realise I had so many, and that's not counting the full ones in the cupboard.
Put a beef roast and a soup-bone in the pressure cooker last night, added onions, garlic, carrots, potatoes and celery this morning after cutting the meat up and removing the thin layer of fat. Added herbs and spices and some tomato paste, and voila, breakfast was served. DH liked it so much he had 2 bowls with Italian ciabatta and butter, seeing as I decided rather late to cook rice and it wasn't ready yet. The bones were so soft I could eat them, although DH isn't partial to bones in his food, soft or not.
Didn't milk Bambi yesterday, and today she gave just over a gallon. Way to go girl. Now if you can just give me a gallon every milking, that would be swell and ensure your continued welcome at the farm. Didn't find any eggs yesterday, so beginning to hoard the eggs I do find so that I don't have to go and buy them. Found 8 today including 2 in the lower barn, one from yesterday, one from today, and 2 in the garage, think could also be 2 days worth and they seemed the same size and colour, but maybe not. There wasn't one there when I looked yesterday midday. So Jim and Jenny scored a dozen.
Seriously looking at which animals must be sold, which to butcher. Want to bring our numbers down, it's just so hard to choose.
Don't think I've told my DH recently that he's gorgeous and thanks for being in my life. I'm a lucky girl. You should have seen his face when I showed him my jeans that had split. He nearly bust a gut !!
He thought this morning that I'd made a really good used car salesman ! What ?? Roasting pumpkin in the oven. Methinks I'll surprise him with his favourite, Pumpkin Pie, tomorrow. While the oven is hot, think I may pop an apple pie in too from the one jar that I canned which didn't seal.
This day-light saving is such a load of crock ! The animals can't tell time, sun rises, they get up, sun sets, they go to bed. Hmm. Another way to simplify ? We are 7 hours behind South Africa again.
Had a wonderful chat with Tanya today. She's really doing well at her new medical massage business in California. Putting in all the leg-work to get her business known. Proud of you Mooi Ding. When I get an e-mail or text from her, my phone tells me it's from Mooi Ding, her childhood family pet name, direct translation Pretty Thing.
