Just a normal working day for me. Milked the cows and cleaned up afterwards. Fed and watered all the beasties, and walked Dolly back to the pasture. She walks so carefully on the humple, iced ground. Larry licks his lips in anticipation when he sees her approaching. And as soon as he's finish nursing, she bellows to go back to the lower barn :).
Took 4 buggy-loads of water, and I broke the ice on the goose trough, sheep trough, 2nd trough in the channel and the auto-dog waterer. Then had to jump start the tractor, move it out the shed so that the fumes don't settle down in the milk parlour and lower barn, and let it run while moving the truck out to the back lawn. Only had to shoo one rooster away from the door, the rest stayed in the chicken house. ½ inch spanner from the tractor tool box to undo the fastners to take the tailgate off the truck. Struggled a little with it, it's heavy. Herbie usually does this part. Lay it on the ground, throw the strap over the back. Brought the tractor around, attached the 2 sides of the strap to the tractor and pulled both bales off at the same time. One fell right, the other stood on it's end so had to spear it over. Place the two perfectly end-on-end as in the photo above. I did that !
Put the tailgate back, drove the truck back between the house and shed, reversed the tractor back into the shed. Put the charger on to the battery, but think it probably needs a new one. Already replaced the one in the buggy, the 2 in the truck, so it's probably time to give the tractor a new one.
Did the laundry, a load of dishes. Also some texting with my sister. They walked the Golden Gate Bridge - in 70 degree sunshine. A little warmer than our 26 and snow. Was nice to see the green vinyards and blue sky, even if it was only in photos.
Then watched Life of Pi I picked up at the library on Tuesday. Rather enjoyed it.
Didn't cook today at all. Just heated some pizza I made yesterday.
