For me, this is on top of my broken septum, and cut on my nose, which keeps bleeding. If I breathe too hard, or cough, or laugh. Keep waking up with a tummy full of blood, so add nausea to my mix. This happened last Friday, I was giving hay to the cows, getting it out of the row I put under the trees. There are some low hanging branches, and on the 2nd bale, a branch caught on the smoke stack, I stopped to put it into reverse, when it jumped and the branch whacked me in the face - a blow going upwards. Took my breath away and bled like crazy. I started driving the tractor back, sans bale, but felt faint, so switched it off and staggered back to the house. On checking on Monday, the tractor is splattered with blood, and the branch actually broke.
Herbie was lying on the lounge floor, and I said Ithink I've broken my nose, on my way upstairs. Fortunately our tap water is icy cold, so was able to get the bleeding under control. Herbie came upstairs, all groggy, as he'd been asleep, looked at me like I was crazy. Well, I did look crazy. I'd taken my blood soaked shirt off, but had blood on my body, and when lifting my head up, the blood continued dripping. He asked if I wanted to go to the emergency, but last time I did that, we received a $500 bill and they just gave me a tetanus shot and then super-glued above my eye, it got infected, so I pulled the glue off and treated it myself with essential oils. I looked up septum breaks online, they can't do anything for it, unless it is crooked and interferes with my breathing. Fortunately, the blow was from the bottom of my nose, just above my lip, so my nose wasn't squashed down. Also very lucky it didn't knock my teeth out, or break my glasses and cut my eyes. So need to wait for the swelling to go down before reassessing.
The flu or cold or whatever we've caught exacerbates it as I'm collecting gunge in my sinuses, and I can't blow my nose. Last night was horrid as my nose kept blocking and I couldn't breathe. Doing chores today was trying, do one thing, then collapse. Herbie got home early, also feeling awful, and I'd half done virtually nothing. Being chilly last night, got 2 more blankets out, so stripped the bed down this morning to put the new hot mattress pad on it, but bending over made me nearly topple over, so I abandoned it. Went and fed Maddie, opened the gate for the cows so that the calves could feed. I poured Joans' milk last night so fortunately didn't have to milk this morning, then collapsed again. The dogs and cats unfed, as well as the FrankenChickens, other poultry or the sheep. Got them done, one by one, s-l-o-w-l-y. Decided on the chicken soup, that should make us feel better. Herbie wanted to know what I was doing, making chicken soup, want pizza. Hell no, just thinking about pizza makes me feel more nauseous. The soup turned out well, used leftover chicken from the one I roasted a few days ago, used the last onion, a whole head of garlic, sweet potatoes, carrots and celery, chicken stock - bought, not home-made. Had mine with Marmite fingers, Herbie had buttered bread with his 2nd bowl. Upstairs, we re-made the bed without the mattress pad, and after a slug each of Nyquil, he's fast asleep and I'm girding my loins to take the rubbish down and re-attach the downspouts, it's raining :(.
Not supposed to both be sick at the same time - Herbie made lunch yesterday, chicken nuggets and salad with olives. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. At least I seem to be losing weight :).
