Nanette sent a photo of her daughter, Dakota Alice Calvin born this afternoon. Herbie will call her Zoe, as that's the name Nanette originally told him.
We had our medicals today for being foster parents, and Herbie had his DOT medical card renewed for his CDL. Plus got Noddy new wiper blades. Herbie learnt something new on installing them. They come with 2 additional pieces to fit various models of cars. Who'd've thunk ?
Yesterday, after chores, we took Noddy down to Shipshewana. I didn't realise it was a town like Frankenmuth, very touristy. I was wearing little flat sandals which I kept falling off. Herbie didn't know anyone could fall off flat shoes but I showed him. And a pink dress. He did advise me to take something warm as we are going through a very chilly spell. Found cherry pitters :). Bought 3 different kinds and Herbie used one today. Saw lots of the flea market goodies, went through the antique mall, had an extremely expensive shared sandwich and apple dumpling with ice-cream served by fake, according to Herbie, Amish women :) One of the highlights from the websearch Herbie had done, was the patchwork flower gardens - there were 3. We had to drive to find them, and on reaching the first one, he was sooo disappointed ! It was about 8 ft square ! Like a postage stamp, and the other 2 weren't any bigger. After seeing the tulip gardens in Holland, MI we were expecting acres of patchwork flowers. Came back and stopped for burgers and beer at Oliveras, at their new place in Ionia. Was great !
Not quite Port Austin, but a marvelous day spent with my gorgeous husband. Thank you, Herbie. We needed a little us time :)
