Herbie worked so hard today. I drove the truck, he loaded the bales of hay onto the trailer, all 183 of them. I helped off-load them. We laid the large tarp in the leg above the lower barn enclosure, below the barn. It's angled, so the rain should run off.
I took Noddy to Menards to get another large tarp Herbie saw on their website, 50 X 30, and it was huge. Covered the top and sides, and we doubled it back over. Lifted the sides of the bottom tarp, and held the top one down with the 8 old tyres taken off the horse trailer and other straight trailer. There's enough to cover the rest of the hay fron the field once this coming cold and rainy spell is over. I thought putting a layer of pallets on the bottom would work better than putting them on the ground, but we're running out of pallets. Need to collect some more. The hay was rained on twice, but we put it up dry. Just looks more like straw than hay. Not much green at all, but the sheep are eating it, and come next January, all the beasties will eat it, I'm sure. 2nd cutting, lots of alfalfa so should be high protein.
Amy needed more milk, and I didn't milk today as Dolly refused to come. Will get her tomorrow. She took the gallon I had from Wednesday. So glad they are enjoying the milk.
Then Amanda came around as well. Checked the car seat that Julie gave us, but unfortunately it expired in December 2011. I didn't know they even had an expiry date, but there it was, stamped on the back.
Otherwise I just potted around today, slowly clearing out the dining room.
Must say I'm bushed. Goodnight.
