Scrubbed the kitchen entrance hall, the downstairs loo, the kitchen and the front entrance floors, twice, while spot cleaned the diningroom floor. Both times on my hands and knees, 1st with Dawn dishwashing liquid, 2nd with ammonia and water. Had to use a scouring pad for the grout, but it looks fabulous ! Herbie thinks I'm nuts doing it by hand and not with the mop thingy, but it doesn't get clean with a Swiffer, despite what the advertising says. That liquid leaves a scummy film on the floor as well.
Fell on my ass after taking Dolly back to pasture after tonights milk. It snowed a little this afternoon, but the dropping temperatures left ice everywhere. I was walking carefully, thinking of the movie we saw the other night, Searching for Sugarman, about the Detroit singer Rodrigues, who is famous in South Africa, but not in America, because he walked as if he was on ice all the time. It takes lots of effort to walk heal-toe when one didn't grow up with snow and ice. After a long, hot shower I feel OK, but methinks I'm going to hurt tomorrow.
Jackie visited this afternoon. We enjoyed NY style cheesecake a la SAMS Club, with coffee for Jackie and tea for me. She came to buy eggs, think we collected a full dozen today ! Way to go girls, it's about time. Don't think the ducks and geese have started laying yet, but think the guineas may have a nest somewhere, as only saw 3 today out and about, so maybe the 4th was laying.
Rosco found a deer which he has dragged closer to the house. The past 2 days he had blood on his face, this morning there was a leg with hoof on the driveway. Herbie says it is mainly just hide and bones aleady, he thinks Rosco may have caught it.
Dolly is being really weird. Her one back quarter is full and pinkish, although I can see the milk flowing from this quarter with the milking machine, it doesn't milk her completely, so I've taken to hand milking that quarter straight into the cats milk bowl. She stands very well for me to do this, it's after her grain is finished, doesn't kick me or the cats bowl. My hands are getting a real work-out. From doing massage, I've always had strong, needle-like fingers, but milking is something else again.
