Ruthie had a little girl this evening :). Our first lamb of the year. She is white with black spots, black patches around both eyes and black feet. Hope to get a photo in the morning. Takes after her grand-daddy, Sockeye. Not sure if there is still a twin to come, will see in the morning. Carried her to the lower barn with mum following as she was still wet and it's chilly at night. Put up a red heat lamp under the ladder and left them together. She was looking for the teat and Ruthie is very attentive so they should be fine.
Herdshares are going well, we're at capacity for once-day-milking, with 2 gallons leaving the farm everyday except Saturday when it's currently only one. We have 9 families enjoying the milk. If there is more, sustained, demand, will have to consider twice daily milking, or separate Eleanor from Daisy May as she's 5-months old already and is drinking more than her share.
