Today we fixed the fences around the various pastures and the hayfield. The electric fencer wasn't working, so I switched it off. When Gracie was here, she jumped into, and back out of the ex-sheep pasture, wrapping the electric strands around the non-electric barbed-wire. Found that the barbed wire was pulled loose from the post and was lying on the ground, taking the electric top and bottom strands with it.
Looks as if a deer or two hit the fencing in the pasture, so we had to tighten the wire in various places. Also wacked plant growth under the fencing with hand-held sickles as there was some interference.
Got it all working, which Anni discovered tonight. Sorry Anni.
Bill came over on his tractor, but DH had already moved his hunting shack to the other side of the pasture. He cut down some dead trees, and DH built a teepee fire on top of last nights' fire. He then took Bill back home.
I was cleaning in the kitchen, looked out and saw a huge fire. Dang, he started the fire without me, I didn't know he was back ! Lands up he wasn't. The fire started up from last nights' embers.
Invited Jackie and Gary to join us, they brought the fixings for s'mores. Yummy. Shared our freshly pressed apple juice with them, which they both enjoyed. The stars were beautiful again tonight, identified the Big Dipper. Many planes flying up there, so high you can't hear them. The hoot owl called a few times, but the screech owl was silent. Jackie really wanted to hear the screech owl. It was out there last night, but not tonight. Sorry Jackie.
The cows were milling around us before they arrived, came to investigate them, and then went and lay down. Another great evening on the farm.
