Went to check on the cows water, to see 3 little orange fish in about an inch of water in the corner of the trough. Looked as if one was lying on it's side. Great. They ignore the water preferring to drink out of the pond, and the one day I don't check (yesterday) they empty it. Switch the tap on, set the timer on my phone. Feed the dogs and cats, and have one determined chicken try to enter the garage door everytime it's opened. Looks as if she's one of them who lays her egg in the garage, but I'm stopping that. Let Anni out and shoo Rosco in and close the door behind him. Give the sheep hay, check all the other water troughs and re-fill 3 more, including the small one for the poultry. Let the hose run out back a little to make puddles for the ducks. Return to the cow trough to fish out the dead fish, to discover all three swimming away. I lost an orange one from the sheep trough yesterday, may have been traumatised when I cleaned out all the gunk from their trough. Anni wouldn't eat it, but it's gone this morning so presume it became chicken food.
Dolly seems much better. Still nursing her back leg, and there was a little more pus, so after her Epsom salt immersion, I gave her a penicillin shot after I'd milked her. Have no herd-share owners until Tuesday, so can get the drugs out of her system by then, will just not use her milk for the next few days. There is no indication on the drugs that I need to do this, but I believe in playing it safe.
Have 3 lots of yoghurt draining in the kitchen. Can hear the drip, drip from there, the sound that drove Herbie crazy last week as he couldn't find what was dripping :) Now he knows. Looks as if it might rain. Good, we need a good farmers' rain, not a gully washer please God.
Well, Herbie should be home shortly, let me go find something to make for lunch as I've not eaten today yet
