DH cleaned the milk parlour yesterday after milking. Looked great, but after milking today I decided to leave Bambi in the stall until she is used to it and no longer skittish as I'm tired of fighting with her ! So put a layer of straw down as she's going to mess it up. have Mabel there with her, who has a bit of an upset tummy, so need to watch her.
Last night was another perfect evening. DH lit another fire, a had defrosted some tenderloin steaks from our own beef, put a potato in to oven, one he had dug up from our garden, I didn't feel for a potato but did for fresh salad, so went out into the garden and picked one - Swiss chard, yellow pear tomatoes, a red heirloom tomato, baby cucumbers, a green pepper, basil, some flat green beans. Washed them and did a dressing made from our own apple cider vinegar, olive oil and salt and pepper - just what I wanted. Had to put the steaks back on for some additional cooking as mine was still cold inside, shared some red wine, and enjoyed our dinner by firelight. Vanilla icecream with my blueberry syrup for afters. 'Twas warmer last night, a few insects about but was wonderful to sit and chat and share things with each other. We didn't switch the TV on for the whole 2 days !
It rained early this morning, and is getting darker outside now gearing for more :). The tunnel has water in it again, seems to just dry out before flooding again.
Trying to work up the mojo to tackle the kitchen. I'm not sure where to start : unpack the dishwasher, but then where to put all the clean canning jars ? The floor, where to put the pots ? Posted the photos of my messy kitchen and diningroom in my canning groups FB page, and have had amazing responses. Others have shown it to their DHs to prove it's normal :)
