My DH worked like a demon today. I only fed the dogs and cats, milked the cow and cleaned up the barn, fed us. He fetched another 2 bales of hay from Mike, off-loaded them and gave one to the cows, put the snow thrower on the tractor and cleaned the drive, fed the poultry, collected their eggs, watered the cows, took the rubbish bin down to the road, bought diesel and filled the Heela Monster and started it so that the milking parlour was warm for me, plus he spread salt all the way down our drive. Then we went to Horrocks Garden place and chose a Blue Spruce Christmas tree which we decorated tonight. It turned out pretty well.
He has to go to work early, leaving here by 9am, and I'm going to take Anni down to Leslie where she'll hopefully get knocked up.
Tomorrow is Herbies' birthday, and the only thing he wanted was a good pea soup with turkey-ham pieces, carrots and pearl onions. Couldn't think what cake he wanted, so I'll surprise him.
I'm warm inside the lounge taking photos through the glass :).
Marmelade was so cool yesterday. While I was bending down cleaning Bambis' teats for milking, she jumped onto my back, and then jumped onto Bambis' back. She didn't stay long as Bambi had wet ice on her, but it was so much better than when she clawed her way up onto Dollys' back a few months ago. I always put her up on whichever cow I'm milking, she paw-pushes on them and lies down which they like and I think it's cute.
Not going to milk Bambi anymore as I didn't even get 1/4 cup from her today. I don't know if Mabel is draining her because of the cold weather, if she's not drinking enough water to produce more milk, or if she's drying herself up. So, no milking until the next calf arrives, which should be end January :) big smile.
DH remembered the SA Brandy Tart today, so wants me to make one to take to his mums' on Christmas. So the order is currently : 1 pumpkin, 1 milk tart and 1 brandy tart. He said I don't have to make an apple pie as that would be too much and everyone would start with the pud !
