According to DH my pies were a hit. All 3 were finished, even with some saying, wow, that Brandy is strong. Like taking a shot.
I drove home as DH said on the way there that he hated going anywhere on his days off. He really didn't want to go, not because he didn't want to see his mum, sister and brother, daughters and nieces, nephews and assorted family, but because the 3 hour round trip, with snowy roads, just makes him grumpy. He drove there as he thought the roads would be worse than they were, and I'm not a seasoned snow / ice / black ice driver. We stopped at a garage to clean the windscreen as the wishy-washies weren't working with the de-icer fluid, and they were closed due to the power outage. All the pumps bagged. We did see 2 tankers on the road, as the Lansing Marathon fuel terminal has been power-less since the storm so all are scrambling to uplift from other terminals. Wonder how that's going to affect the fuel price. Wow, for a moment there I was back in my corporate life. Thank goodness it's not my problem anymore.
Got home, collected some more eggs, and DH dished himself a huge helping of all 3 pies, then promptly fell asleep on the couch :) Woke up, and asked for pie with ice-cream which is what I offered when we were driving home. Had another plate of pie with ice-cream. Christmas ! I finished the steak from yesterday, and the salad, then made custard to have with some pie. I also had a small piece of each. Rather good, but I think I'm pie-d out for now. Maybe I should pop one of the Brandy Tarts into the freezer. Have an extra one I was thinking of taking over to Teri and Andy, but don't think they do the alcohol. I know Jackie doesn't either, and am not sure of the protocol of sharing boozy pud with people here. If anyone wants a Brandy Tart, let me know. Going ..... going .....
His grand-boy is a cutie. Every time I've seen him he's been really quiet, but I suppose he is a normal little boy in his own environment. For the first time, the girls gave us Christmas gifts. And brought something for all their family there as well. I was surprised.
Cavvie, our male alpaca, died this morning. He wasn't doing well, and couldn't get up. I have a feeling it's the meningeal worm that they are prone to from the deer that roam around here. Think I'll move the girls in with the sheep tomorrow. De-worm them first, plus need to check all the sheep again for anaemia as well. Wrestling with sheep in the snow ? Will have to wear my insulated bibs, gloves, jacket. Maybe DH wants to watch ? He always says he can't imagine me doing that, but I do LOL.
I actually wore decent clothes today, smart pin-stripe grey trousers, red cashmere top and my long black wool coat with my Muck boots, and DH wore one of his cashmere tops with jeans. He looks so dashing in cashmere. I even did a little art on my face, just a little liner and a pink touch to my mouth. Looked really different, suppose not being covered in cow-poop, smelling like a barn with hay in my hair
