Herbie made friends with Izzy. It took a while, she wouldn't look at him and even moved when he came and sat down at the table. The turning point was when he asked her how to switch the light on in the loo. Now he is one of her favourite people :) He downloaded a piano playing app on my phone and taught her how to play. So cute watching the two of them chatting. The big guy and the tiny 3-year old. He's so good with kids.
Will be making the next batch of biltong tomorrow. Think I'll mail some out to special people :).
For dinner we had the backstraps, perfectly cooked in a cast iron pan with olive oil / butter. Herbie peeled and whopper chopped potatoes for chips, made South African style fried onion rings, then cut carrots into blocks, added pearl onions and edemame (didn't have peas - must add to my shopping list). Herbie had seconds, of the meat ! It was that good.
I bought a second hand egg incubator yesterday. Takes 80 eggs, so don't have to ever have day-old chicks shipped again :). Looking forward to hatching guineas. Would like to have enough of them so that we can eat them on a regular basis.
Bedtime for me. Herbie has to go to work tomorrow morning.
