After milking the girls and taking them back to the pasture, I made an omelet for us to share - mushrooms with onions, garlic and rosemary, grated extra sharp cheddar cheese, unfortunately with store-bought eggs.
We shared it, came out fantastic. Can't believe I actually eat omelets. Went up to lie with Herbie from about 4pm, and then went back out to water the beasties, bring the milking girls back to the lower barn enclosure, give them and the sheep their evening hay after he'd fallen asleep.
Then tackled the problem of Elli again. She's too big for me to pick her up, so I took the top of the chick hutch and some rope and straps. Backed the buggy up to her, laid the wooden lid down and dragged her up onto it. Tied the ropes and straps from the buggy to under the lid and around her butt end and then drove with her to the corner where the gate to the channel is. Tied straps around the gate and then under and around her to keep her upright, propped the hay bale next to her and put a small bucket of water next to her. Will see what state she's in in the morning. Her fiber is so wonderful, it would be a pity if she died. Also, then Frogz will be on her own, which is not desirable either.
There was a light covering of white on the ground this morning, and the forecast is for a white Christmas. I think I'm going to make Koeksisters for dessert at lunch at Mabels'. Wanted to start the syrup today, but never got there. Oh well, maybe I should make it now.
