At about 11pm last night, Herbies sister, Julie, and our friend, Sam, called telling Herbie that they were flying out today and wanted me to make them a South African breakfast. He was groggy as he had to get up at 1:30am for work and was therefore exhausted when he got home. But he called Sam asking what time they were arriving, and he said around 3:30pm ! Had arranged to collect 2 more bales of hay from Mike, so bank, hay, bank (ATM down), airport :). He arrived before we did and we met him in the airport building. Herbie was keen, and he and Sam took a fly-over the farm. I chose to stay in the warm airport building as the back of the plain was chilly.
Then we went to Applebees as there was only about 4before he'd fly home, so driving to the farm meant we'd only be there for about 10 minutes.
Herbie loves flying. He's a little disappointed that I don't share this enthusiasm, but I've considered it and decided it's the landings I don't care for. I've flown in ultralights, microlights (nope, I don't know the difference either) hot air balloon, helicopters including a Huey with the 2 propellers, 2-seater, 4-seater, 6-seater and up to a small jet, and then the larger connercial planes too. But I've never had the desire to actually fly whichever aircraft I was in, even when it was offered. Herbie would love to get his license and own a plane. Breakfast on Mackinac Island ? Don't mind if I do :)
Got home in the dark but had to offload the hay as the beasties will probably need it in the morning.
Tomorrows' Friday :). Goodnight.
