Found some free windows and doors in Ada on CL today, so loaded up the 2 dogs and went to pick them up. They were huge. Managed to get them all on the truck by myself, except the last one. So there I am, balancing this huge 6-paned window against the back of the truck and me, texting everyone I could think of to come help ! This was after I'd unsuccessfully tried to flag down passing cars with men in them, which done while sort of attached to a huge window was probably comical. After 1/2 and hour in the sun, an old guy (proudly told me he was 76 and the reason he didn't have back ache at his age was that he didn't go around picking up heavy windows !) pulled up to the open house across the street, called out that I looked as if I needed help, hell yes, and said he'd get some young guys from the party to help. 2 strapping young lads later, and I was ratcheting them all down. Success !
Think they will do very nicely for the greenhouse I'm planning, thank you very much. So if anyone has free old windows, doors, shelving etc etc, drop me a note and I'll pick them up.
Betsi dropped off a lot of tomato plants - wow. We are going to have tomatoes coming out of everywhere. No idea where to plant all these new ones, will have to find spots for them tomorrow ! Maybe I should plant them in the unused trenches I dug for the asparagus crowns seeing as I dug far too many of them ?
