Some skunk hacked into TurboTax and stole our identity last night, and e-filed a bogus tax return in our name. Was midnight when I was alerted, and obviously no one was available to help. Started calling just after 8am this morning, and 5 hours later had all the necessary forms, one set for Herbie, one set for me, and the IRS alerted. Then it was down to the police station to open a case. The officers were changing shift, so we sat for ½ an hour before we were helped. First time in a Sherriffs' office for me - looked so institutional. Tomorrow we need to go change our bank account, and all the auto-pays that come out of it. Fun : NOT ! This puts us into a precarious position for paying our Winter property taxes next month as we have to mail a paper return, which will take about 180 days to process, so we won't get our refund until July at the earliest. Suppose it'll be in time for the Summer tax bill due in September.
Ohio animal auction prices seem much better than Michigan at present so Herbie suggested we take last Springs' lambs down to sell for the tax money. He'll have to take a day off, so we also lose his wages but will probably have to, but all the girls should be pregnant, so we lose out on the lambs too. This is just a disaster.
So was very late milking and feeding beasties.
It was the cherry on a not-so-nice weekend, yesterday we discovered that the blue tarp wasn't waterproof, and only salvedged about 20 bales of what was once beautiful, 3rd cutting hay out of about 100. Still have the 2nd pile to sort through. We could have cried. You do all that work, and don't reap the benefits. Just sucks.
